Announcement made – Chelsea release statement confirming four-year deal

Antonio Rudiger has signed for Real Madrid on a four-year deal after his deal at Chelsea expired – the Blues have announced Rudiger was a firm fans favourite for the club with his high-energy performances – and no-nonsense tackles exactly what the club needed in that back- line.

Chelsea were desperate to keep hold of the German – but with the sanctions that were on the club – they were unable to offer him the kind of deal he wanted – which left the door open for Real Madrid to swoop in.

And after a few weeks of talks – the Germany International agreed to make the move to Spanish football just a few weeks ago and The 29-year-old will leave Stamford Bridge after five years. A statement on Chelsea’s website read:

“We bid farewell to Antonio Rudiger as he departs Stamford Bridge with his Chelsea contract expiring, bringing to a close his five trophy-filled years with the club. “The German defender has left the Blues to join Real Madrid, having played a huge role in our successes in recent seasons.

“Rudiger lifted the FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea, playing a crucial role in all those triumphs at the heart of our defence.”

Rudiger was one of the best players in world football and he will be a massive lose to this side – we really will miss the man It is a shame that he had to leave the club – as we said – he was a top player and a top guy
